This was a 2 family on a side street a little closer to top of 2nd avenue. The upstairs tenant wasn't inclined to let us in. The downstairs tenants gave us free rein. It was okay, the kitchen was pretty small, and the fumes from the basement.. mildew hell. It could have been worked with I guess.. it was a decent buy, especially with off street parking, a decent sized yard and a garage.. but it needed pretty immediate work and was a little over my price limit.

This one was huge.. when I told the broker I wanted to look at it she said it looks like someone got drunk and had a decorating party in there, but it's always good for a laugh. I wasn't sure what she meant, I figured weird colors were always something that could be changed. HA! They used some tree plank shelves for indoor window sills, there was a castle wall built about a third of the way from the wall in one of the rooms, there were glass game boards as shelves in the living room...and the place smelled like crack....

This was the first house I made an offer on. A 2 family house with off street parking, a decent sized little yard, corner lot. Ancient kitchen and bath, but no "do it yourself" amateur improvements that needed to be undone. Great potential, and of course the potential for rental income if i ended up deciding the place was too much for me after the last kiddo launches herself into the world. Unfortunately the deal was they had to find a place before we could close. 6 weeks in (in THIS market) they hadn't found a place. I pulled my offer and moved on.
